Asha Lockett, MA, Doctoral-Level Practicum Student
Asha Lockett, MA, is a dedicated and passionate clinical psychology student pursuing her Ph.D. at Fielding Graduate University. She holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from North Carolina Central University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, and a BS in Psychology from Clayton State University. During her time at NCCU, she was actively involved in research, having contributed to publications and presentations on topics related to sickle cell disease and its psychological impact. That experience led Asha to develop a strong interest in understanding complex psychological and health-related issues, particularly concerning the impact of chronic pain in the African American community.
Asha also gained valuable experience working with children and adolescents, mainly through her practicum training in counseling and conducting psychological and behavioral assessments at both elementary and middle school levels. Asha has administered and written evaluations for a range of psychological and behavioral tests, which has become a great passion of hers. Asha has a deep curiosity and eagerness to learn. She thrives on challenges and continually seeks opportunities to expand her knowledge and skills in psychology. Her commitment to advancing mental health awareness, particularly in underserved populations, is reflected in both her academic achievements and her clinical work. She is dedicated to making a positive impact through her passion for therapy and assessments.
Asha credits her upbringing for giving her a rich experience in life. She comes from a military family and had the opportunity to experience culturally diverse environments at a young age, particularly while growing up in San Diego, CA. She has lived in North Carolina since 2016 and loves it just as much as California. She enjoys spending time with her family and anything related to good music and food.
