Angela M. Hopkins is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors. She has been a registered nurse for over 30 years, specializing in pediatrics and Clinical Care/Case management.
She earned her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Master's of Divinity degrees from Campbell University. She is an ordained minister. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from North Carolina Central University. She is also a graduate of Pfeiffer University, where she earned her double Master's Degrees in Business Administration and Health Administration.
She believes wholeheartedly that mental health is pivotally integral to overall health. She uses a holistic and integrative framework incorporating techniques based on the Whole Person Wellness Model that promotes addressing the physical, emotional, occupational, social, intellectual, and spiritual dimensions of a person's being to increase awareness of choices that impact their wellness and fulfillment. She incorporates evidence-based techniques from a range of theoretical approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which focuses on reframing thoughts and action-oriented problem-solving skills; psychodynamic techniques, which focuses on bringing early childhood unconscious forces to consciousness; and Mindfulness therapy, which focuses on intentionally being in the present moment with conscious acceptance exercises. This eclectic framework allows her to individualize therapeutic sessions to maximize client engagement.
She is a client-centered therapist serving a diverse population of children, adolescents, adults, and families. She is accepting, authentic, empathic, and collaborative with her clients, aiming to provide a safe and supportive space to help each client identify strengths and weaknesses and clarify their goals and possible pathways to achieve them. She purposely works with individuals from a variety of backgrounds to manage the impact of life's evolution, including but not limited to substance misuse, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, stress, trauma, pre and post-marital relationship challenges, grief and loss, and career transitions. She believes that Divine and Therapeutic processes work together for the good of ALL that engage.
Outside of her professional life, Angela enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, indulging in good music, sermons, or audiobooks, and immersing herself in nature through walks and travels, especially to beaches. She cherishes being a mother to her son and her grandmother role as Nana to her grandson, which brings her immense joy and fulfillment.
