Birshari Green Cox, MA, LPCA, NCC
Birshari Greene Cox is a North Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (NC LPCA # A13722) and National Certified Counselor (NCC # 1024524). Birshari earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Summa Cum Laude, from North Carolina Central University. Birshari also earned a Master of Science in Behavioral Science, with Honors, from Cameron University. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Birshari’s clinical experience includes in-patient hospital experience as a Therapist at Holly Hill Behavioral Health Hospital in Raleigh, NC; experience as a school-based Mental Health Therapist in Orange County Schools in Hillsborough, NC; and community support mental health experience as an Associate Professional (AP) in an agency that worked with the former Durham Center Access (now the Durham Recovery Response Center). With spirituality and faith being an important part of her life’s work and calling, Birshari is a Licensed Christian Minister in the Baptist denomination. Birshari has been a minister for thirteen years in various volunteer roles. Birshari is pleased to provide Christian Counseling as one of her theoretical orientations when desired by clients.
In addition to practicing at The Armstrong Center for Hope, Birshari is currently the Assistant Director for Student Accessibility Services (formerly Student Disability Services) at NCCU. Birshari also has five years of experience as a university adjunct instructor. She has taught in the Department of Psychology, the School of Business, and in the University College area, which is an academic college for first- and second-year students, all at NCCU. Birshari enjoys working with many types of clients, including college students, K-12 students, student-athletes, young adults, adolescents, children, pastors, ministry leaders, Christian believers, adult women and men, couples, seniors, and veterans.
