Clifton Garner, Sr., PsyD., is a native of North Carolina, originally from Roanoke Rapids. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Psychology from Park University, Parkville, MS. He has a Master’s Degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, both from Capella University, Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Garner has received specialized training in psychological diagnostic assessment (testing) and therapeutic interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral and Solution-Focused Therapy in the private practice setting.
Dr. Garner graduated from Weldon High School in Weldon, North Carolina and immediately pursued a career in the United States Air Force that spanned 21 years. During his military career he has lived and worked in South Korea, North Carolina, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Germany, and Texas. Dr. Garner’s adventures instilled a love of travel and cultural diversity. Currently, he considers San Antonio, Texas, his home.
Among Dr. Garner’s other interests, he is an avid reader, movie-goer, self-proclaimed foodie and life-long student. He enjoys cooking and exploring new food types. However, his love for food is equalized through calisthenics and weight training, which includes the occasional yoga class in as much as his varied schedule will allow. When he is not cooking or working out, he appreciates taking candid photographs in outdoor settings as a way to freeze time and capture the beautiful realities of life. Dr. Garner believes that it is important to build a life that you will love, and he consciously works to grow his own life with measured objectives while spending time with his family, friends, and being surrounding by the sounds of other people growing their happy lives as well.
Dr. Garner’s professional interests include cultural and religious adaptations of clinical interventions in support of children, adolescent, and adult populations. He hopes to join his love of learning with teaching psychology to others that share his passion for the field.
